Landing in Paris and a first walk through the Marais

Keep today short. You land in the afternoon, get settled, and take one gentle walk before dinner rather than trying to see anything major on jet-lagged legs.
  1. 01

Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG)

    95700 Roissy-en-France, France

    14:30 · 30m
The RER B runs into central Paris in about 45 minutes and is the cheapest option; a taxi to Le Marais runs roughly €55-65 (checked 2025) and takes 40-60 minutes depending on traffic.

  3. 02

    Place des Vosges

Place des Vosges, 75004 Paris, France

    17:00 · 45m
The oldest planned square in Paris, arcaded on all four sides, and a good low-effort first look at the city. Benches under the trees if you want to just sit with a coffee.

    Chez Janou

2 Rue Roger Verlomme, 75003 Paris, France

    19:00 · 90m
Provençal bistro a short walk from Place des Vosges, known for its bowl of chocolate mousse you serve yourself. No reservation needed for a solo diner most weeknights, but arrive by 19:00 to skip the wait.

The Louvre and the Tuileries

A museum-heavy day makes sense for early February, when Paris afternoons are often gray and cold. The Louvre, then a walk through the Tuileries, then the smaller and calmer Orangerie next door.
  1. 01

    Musée du Louvre

Rue de Rivoli, 75001 Paris, France

    09:15 · 180m
Book a timed entry online in advance (about €22 as of 2025) and enter through the Carrousel du Louvre or Porte des Lions to skip the pyramid line. Three hours covers the Denon wing highlights without exhausting yourself; don't try to see everything.

  3. 02

    Jardin des Tuileries

Place de la Concorde, 75001 Paris, France

    12:45 · 60m
A straight walk from the Louvre's west exit. In February the fountains are off and the trees are bare, but the gravel paths are quiet and there are a few kiosks selling hot chocolate.

    Musée de l'Orangerie

Jardin des Tuileries, 75001 Paris, France

    14:00 · 75m
Monet's large Water Lilies panels fill two oval rooms here and it rarely feels crowded compared to the Louvre. Ticket about €12.50 (2025); a joint ticket with the Musée d'Orsay saves a few euros if you buy it here first.

Buckwheat galettes and cider back in the Marais. Popular, so a walk-in around 19:30 usually beats the peak dinner rush.

Orsay, the Eiffel Tower, and the Trocadéro view

This day moves along the river from the Musée d'Orsay to the Eiffel Tower and finishes across the water at the Trocadéro, which gives the best angle on the tower itself and is worth timing for dusk.
  1. 01

    Musée d'Orsay

1 Rue de la Légion d'Honneur, 75007 Paris, France

    09:30 · 150m
Closed Mondays, so Saturday is a good slot. Ticket about €16 (2025); the collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist work is easier to take in here than at the Louvre because it's a fraction of the size.

  3. 02

    Eiffel Tower

Champ de Mars, 5 Avenue Anatole France, 75007 Paris, France

    13:00 · 120m
About a 30-minute walk along the river from Orsay, or a short bus ride if it's raining. Book the second-floor lift ticket online in advance (around €18-20 in 2025) rather than the summit ticket; the view difference isn't worth the extra wait and cost in winter haze.

    Trocadéro Gardens

    15:30 · 60m
Cross the Pont d'Iéna for the classic postcard view of the tower from Palais de Chaillot. Sunset in early February is around 18:00, so a late afternoon visit here can drift naturally into blue hour if you don't mind the cold.

Notre-Dame, Sainte-Chapelle, and the Left Bank

Sunday starts on the Île de la Cité, where Notre-Dame and Sainte-Chapelle sit a few minutes apart, then crosses into the Latin Quarter for the Luxembourg Gardens.
  1. 01

    Notre-Dame de Paris

    6 Parvis Notre-Dame, Place Jean-Paul II, 75004 Paris, France

    09:00 · 45m
Reopened to visitors after its 2019 fire and long restoration. Sunday mass runs roughly 08:30, 10:00, and 11:30, so a visit right at opening keeps you clear of the services. Entry is free but a timed slot booked online in advance is worth doing to avoid the queue.

    10:15 · 60m
Two minutes' walk from Notre-Dame, inside the old royal palace complex. Ticket about €13 (2025); go on a clear morning if you can, since the stained glass upper chapel depends entirely on daylight.

Montmartre

The last full Paris day stays in one hillside neighborhood, with a long unstructured afternoon built in on purpose since the pace of the last four days has been steady.
  1. 01

35 Rue du Chevalier de la Barre, 75018 Paris, France

    10:00 · 45m
Take the funicular up from Place Saint-Pierre rather than the stairs, especially if the steps are wet or icy in February. Entry to the basilica is free; the dome climb is seasonal and often closed in winter, so don't count on it.

Train day: Paris to Interlaken

This day is mostly spent on trains, first the high-speed line to Basel and then a slower, scenic Swiss connection down to Interlaken. Keep expectations low for sightseeing and let the journey itself be the activity; the ride along Lake Thun or Lake Brienz in the last stretch is worth staying awake for.

Jungfraujoch, the Top of Europe

The whole day is built around one destination: the highest railway station in Europe, reached by a cogwheel train that climbs through the mountain itself. It's expensive and often crowded, and I'd argue the Schilthorn trip on a later day gives comparable views for less money, but Jungfraujoch's glacier and ice palace are genuinely unlike anything else on this trip.
